May 9, 2010 - Boy
To be honest, I'm not sure who this boy is yet, but by the look of him, I know that he has a story to tell. There is something in his eyes that says he has lived through something very profound. He seems to have wisdom beyond his years.
I think he wanted to be an explorer. Every morning he would probably get dressed, put on his favorite hat, and go running out into the forest just beyond his village to see what he might find.
One day when he was feeling particularly bold, he walked deep into the forest, deeper than he had been told he was allowed to go. He had memorized every rock and every tree in the so-called "safe" area, and he was restless and bored. After all, a true explorer would never allow anyone to tell him where he could and could not go, and so, he went.
He swam through the great river which he had never before crossed. He climbed a mountain all the way to the top to look upon a view which he had never seen before. A thick blanket of black fog covered the ground, and in the distance, a smoothly shaped tower soared into the sky nearly as tall as the mountain itself. The boy doesn't much like thinking about that experience, but it seems fairly certain that he made his way through the black fog, and found an entrance inside the tower. One can only wonder what he found there. Try as I might, I haven't been able to convince the boy to tell me what is inside that tower. Perhaps one day he will open up about it, but until then I suppose that a little mystery in my life is a good thing. After all, only God knows everything.
